Behind the name

it's just me, and a piano

There's no band and no studio team. It's just me, working alone in Berlin from the first note to the final mix. I trained as a pianist, and it still shows: even the ambient pieces are built the way a pianist thinks, one line at a time. The instruments change from track to track. I don't.

The sound

One flute, a long room, and enough space to breathe.

Slumbering Shaman is for the hours when you do not need music to lead the way. Late at night, early in the morning, or during a quiet afternoon at your desk, these pieces are there without asking much from you.

Most of them are short and simple by design. They can loop gently in the background, turning minutes into something that feels less measured and more open.

This is an independent project, released gradually since January 2024. There is no final chapter planned, only new volumes added over time.

Before the name

the music started in the trees

He does not look up for inspiration. He looks up because that is where the sound began. Long before Slumbering Shaman had a name, there were trees, open air, and the feeling that a single flute could hold a little of what the forest leaves behind. The music started there. Everything else came later.

How it gets used

music that stays nearby

You can listen closely, but you do not have to. Slumbering Shaman makes quiet ambient flute music for sleep, reading, focus, and slow evenings at home. These pieces move gently and leave enough space around themselves to become part of the room.

There is no story to follow and nothing that asks for your attention. Just a flute, a little light, and music that stays nearby.

If you forget it is playing, it is doing what it was made to do.

Where it comes from

the forest was here before the studio

Long before any of this was recorded, it was listened to. The sound of a flute in open air, under trees, is the first version of everything that ended up on a record. The studio came later. The forest didn't.
